The Bailey County Court Calendar
Bailey County does not publish one verified, searchable daily calendar for every local court. The official county site has notices and calendar navigation, while its Jury Services page gives a status process for district, county, and justice-court jury calls. Neither source is a full list of all motions, pleas, trials, docket calls, or citation appearances. A court notice, later order, clerk entry, or courtroom posting may carry the controlling Bailey County setting.
The court that owns the case is the best starting point. The 287th Judicial District Court handles felony, family, major civil, and child-protection matters. The constitutional County Court handles county-level criminal, probate, civil, and juvenile work. Bailey County's Justice of the Peace handles traffic, small claims, evictions, debt claims, and other fine-only matters. Muleshoe Municipal Court keeps city citation dates separately. This split explains why a broad Bailey County court calendar search may return nothing even when a valid hearing has been set.
Bailey County Court Calendar Calls
Bailey County uses a specific call-in process for jury status. Official instructions tell a summoned person to check the county site and call the right office after 5 p.m. on the day before the scheduled appearance. District jurors call the District Clerk at 806-272-3165. County Court jurors use the County Judge's Office at 806-272-3077. Justice Court jurors call 806-272-4300.
The call may provide late status or recorded instructions, but it does not replace the summons. Bring the summons and arrive on time unless the court expressly says otherwise. A person who needs an accommodation should notify the court at once.
The official status process appears on the Bailey County jury page.
The captured page supports the after-hours call procedure. It does not show every Bailey County case setting.
How to Find Your Court Date
Use the most exact identifier available. A cause number is safer than a common name. The local access chain includes the case notice, an available docket or portal entry, a clerk phone call, the clerk's counter, and a narrow written request. The state re:SearchTX portal has a Hearings mode, though Bailey County coverage and user access must be checked case by case. No county source confirms a public terminal or printed daily sheet, so ask the clerk rather than assume either exists.
- Identify the court from the summons, citation, pleading, or cause number.
- Read the newest notice and every later docket entry. Search re:SearchTX Hearings only if it covers the case.
- Call the responsible clerk. An attorney in the case may also have the current signed notice.
- If phone help is not enough, visit the counter or send a written request with court, cause number, party style, and date range.
- Confirm the date, time, type, and place shortly before appearing.
Note: A missing online result is not a cancellation; the latest court or clerk instruction controls the Bailey County appearance.
Bailey County Court Calendar Terms
Texas Government Code section 24.464 places Bailey and Parmer Counties in the 287th Judicial District. Bailey County terms begin on the first Mondays in February and August. Parmer terms begin in March and September. A schedule found for Parmer should not be copied into a Bailey County calendar.
Term start is not a hearing date. It marks the start of a court term. It does not order every Bailey County case to appear that Monday.
An individual setting still comes from the judge, clerk, or case notice. It may be a docket call, pretrial event, motion, plea, jury selection, trial, or status review on another day.
Reading a Court Setting
A setting is a scheduled court event. It is not always a trial. Read all fields together. A filing date shows when a paper entered the case. A setting date tells when a court event is planned. The disposition date records an outcome or closing event and should not be mistaken for a future appearance.
| Date | The scheduled day, subject to a later reset or order. |
|---|---|
| Time | The listed start time; the notice may require early check-in. |
| Place | The courthouse, room, or approved remote appearance details. |
| Court or Judge | The assigned court and officer, which identify the responsible clerk. |
| Setting Type | The purpose, such as docket call, motion, plea, status, jury selection, or trial. |
Check the case number too. Similar party names can appear on separate Bailey County court records.
Bailey County Court Calendar Terms
Small differences in wording can change what a person must do. Bailey County has not published a local docket-code book, so check any short code against the full entry and notice.
- Docket call
- A calendar call where cases are announced and status or later settings may be addressed. It is not necessarily a trial.
- Notice of setting
- The formal notice stating when and where a hearing is set.
- Reset
- A move from one setting to another date, often shown in a later entry or order.
- Continuance
- A delay granted by the court. It does not dismiss the case.
- Disposition
- An outcome or closing status, not a new hearing date.
A short portal result may omit the order that explains a change. Ask for the filed notice or order when the effect is unclear.
Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations
A reset or continuance moves an event. It does not end the case. Read entries in date order and look for a later signed order or notice. An old Bailey County calendar entry can remain visible after a new date is set. If two sources conflict, give the clerk both dates and the cause number. Ask which filed notice controls.
County emergency closure news differs from a case-specific order. The County Judge has a role in county closings, but an announcement may not state the new hearing date. Check the County Judge's official page, then contact the court that set the matter. Do not infer that the case was dismissed or moved to the next day.
Bailey County Court Calendar Rules
The county-posted courtroom decorum rule gives clear expectations. It bars hats, caps, sunglasses, tobacco, food, gum, feet on furniture, expressive reactions, and unapproved packages. Recording and electronic equipment require approval. Counsel may have a device if it is silent or off and otherwise permitted.
Follow the bailiff's directions. Arrive with time for screening and room confirmation. Those steps do not change the Bailey County setting, but they reduce the chance of being outside when the docket is called.
Bailey County Court Calendar Offices
There is no single Bailey County calendar desk. District settings and file copies start with the District Clerk at 300 South 1st Street, Suite 130, Muleshoe. The public office page lists weekday hours from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. County Court questions may begin with the County Judge's Office or County Clerk in the same courthouse. Justice Court is at 306 West 2nd Street, Suite B. Each office can confirm whether it holds the setting and where an appearance is to occur.
Muleshoe Municipal Court is a different stop at 215 South 1st Street. Its clerk handles city citation dates and can be reached at 806-272-7586. When requesting a Bailey County court date in writing, include the court name, cause or citation number, full case style, approximate date range, and the exact event sought. Ask for the latest notice of setting, not merely any date in the record. That wording helps the custodian distinguish a future hearing from filing, entry, return, and disposition dates.
What To Do If You Miss a Setting
Contact the responsible clerk at once. Give the court, cause or citation number, name, and missed date. Ask whether the judge entered a new setting, order, default, bond action, warrant, or other direction. Do not infer the result from an old calendar row. Record the instruction received, then request the relevant notice or docket entry when needed.
Act promptly. A missed setting can have serious case-specific effects. Only the court or clerk can confirm the current status and next required step.
District matters go to the District Clerk. County-level cases may require the County Clerk or County Judge's Office. JP cases go to Justice Court, and city citations go to Muleshoe Municipal Court. If staff does not hold the record, ask which custodian does.
Note: Verify the next Bailey County setting from a current notice or direct clerk instruction before another courthouse trip.
